Good morning, and happy Friday to you. This is the last newsletter of 2022. I hope that 2023 overflows with blessings for you.
I have been chomping at the bit to share my year end sale with you, debating about whether to send out my newsletter a day or two early, and deciding that it would be better to send it at the usual time so you would be sure to see it.
This year, I want to say thank you by having a big year end sale with 20% off a large selection of yarn as well as my hand-dyed silk scarves and a few other goodies.
There’s no coupon code to remember. Instead, the discount will be applied automatically when you go to check out. You can see everything that is included in the Year End Sale right here.
The sale is just today and Saturday and ends when 2022 does at midnight CST.
Fresh from the Dye Pots
This week, I dyed Monet’s Water Lilies on six different yarn bases. Here it is on Super Sport:
I also dyed up Murder Mystery for the first time in quite a while. This colorway is so much fun, and it would work beautifully for planned pooling. Here is Murder Mystery on Sparkly Merino Sock:
Some Projects of My Own
I have had a little more time than usual to work on some projects of my own. I finished the baby blanket I have been knitting for our first grand baby (squeee!) who is due in February. Our oldest daughter is doing really well and looks beautiful. She and our son-in-law didn’t want to find out whether the baby is a boy or a girl ahead of time, so that meant getting creative with colors for the blanket. Here’s what I made:
The pattern is Pastel Rainbow Baby Blanket by Stitchy Linda Designs (Ravelry Link). I used Squoosh DK in Sage, Annunciation Blue, and Afremov’s Farewell to Anger.
I have also been wanting to weave a white blanket for this baby whom I can’t wait to hold and decided to use Cashmere Sock as the warp and Squiggle Sock as the weft. I just started yesterday, but I got to weave and listen to an audio book late into the night. Here it is so far:
The warp is the full 32 inches of my loom, and none of my shuttles were long enough, so I’m using a handy-dandy shuttle my husband made from a Home Depot paint stirring stick.
Also late last night I started a baby hat using DPNs instead of magic loop for the first time. I have always been so afraid of losing stitches off both ends of DPNs that I have avoided them for years! I know everyone has strong opinions on this, but after the first few rows where it felt like I was managing the legs of an octopus, I actually found it really fun and less fiddly than magic loop. What do you prefer?
Coming Up
Next week, I hope to have a new colorway for you called Fire and Ice as well as some really cool kits to start the new year right. I’m guessing you spent the last many months creating beautiful things for others. Next week it’s your turn. I’ll see next year! Stay cozy!
