This week I have two new colorways to share with you, and they couldn’t be more different. One is dark and moody while the other is bright and springy!
The first one was inspired by Robert Browning’s poem, “By the Fireside.” In the poem, he considers what it will be like in his old age to look back at his younger years. The poem is filled with descriptions with wonderful earthy colors, and I used those colors to make By the Fireside. Here it is on Buttery Soft DK:

By the Fireside is a favorite of my husband’s, and I’m working on a vest for him using this colorway. Here’s the work in progress:

The pattern I’m using is a new one from Tin Can Knits called Vest Friends. I have the yarn available in the Dyed to Order section of my shop right here.
The irony is that as I write this, the weather is perfect for sitting by the fireside, but if you are yearning toward spring, the other new colorway might be perfect for you. It’s called Cherry Blossom, and I actually created it to go with this month’s club colorway. Here it is on So Silky Sock:

I have some minis of Cherry Blossom in stock, and you can also get it dyed to order on any yarn base right here.

A New Yarn Base
In addition to the new colorways, I have a new yarn base to share with you. You may recall that I was trying to choose a 12th yarn base for my shop. After getting your feedback, I decided to go with Stained Glass DK. I actually carried a similar yarn base some years back, but that one was not as soft as this one. This one is made of 100% superwash merino. It’s similar to Stained Glass Sock but without the nylon. It’s very squishy and wonderful! Here’s a closeup of Sapphire Dreams on Stained Glass DK:

Like Stained Glass Sock, it’s a 2-ply, and the mill makes it with one ply that goes back and forth between black and white. It’s so much fun to use! I’ve added it as an option to all the dyed to order colorways, including the butterfly colorways.

Last Chance to Join Spin Together
We have extended the deadline to join Spin Together to Monday, and I would love to have you on my team! You can learn what it’s all about and join the team at www.spintogether.org. I’ve been one of the organizers working behind the scenes all these years, but this is the first time I’ve led a team, and I’m so excited to get to actually take part in all the fun. It’s a great opportunity to pull out your spindles or spinning wheel and challenge yourself to make some fabulous yarn. There will be in-team prizes as well as prizes for the competition overall.
