Are you oiling up your spinning wheel and getting ready to spin like mad for the Tour de Fleece? If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a fun opportunity to get in some extra spinning time with a friendly competition during the Tour de France. Here’s a link to it on Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/groups/tour-de-fleece.

Here’s Watermelon, a gradient hand-dyed top made of organic Polwarth, which may just be my favorite fiber:
And most fittingly, here’s Paris, which is made of merino wool, organic Polwarth, tussah silk, alpaca, kid mohair locks, and sparkly Angelina–as complex as the city itself! Here it is:

On a personal note, my husband, our older children, and I have been working on installing a new floor. We’re working on about half of the house now. We had planned on working all the way through the house, but clearly we’re going to need a break before we continue. It’s hard work, and it means utter chaos as we move everything from one room to the next, but it’s going to look great if we ever finish when we’re done. We’re installing Home Depot’s Lifeproof Luxury Vinyl Plank, and I’m really pleased with the way it looks so far. The hardest part has been pulling up the particle board that was glued to the plywood under the old flooring and then removing the glue and fixing the plywood. I’m actually hoping to use the opportunity to move my yarn and fiber studio and make it run a little more efficiently as part of this transition. Here’s a bit of the floor installed. In case you are curious, the colorway we chose is called Trail Oak.
On a different topic, I’d like to feature more of YOUR beautiful creations made from Purple Lamb yarn and fiber on the gallery page of my website. Besides, it gives me a chance to see what has become of my yarn and fiber “babies” when they grow up.
As always, happy fiber artistry!
