Spin Together, Silk Hankies, Dream Sock, and More

Good morning!

First of all, thank you to everyone who took advantage of my Labor of Love Labor Day sale! It was a huge success thanks to all of you, and now I have some room to dye up some more goodies.

Spin Together is going really well. We have had a few crazy days dealing with technical glitches, but for right now it’s going smoothly. We have a total of 35 teams, and last I checked we had almost 400 spinners signed up. I’m just endlessly amazed that so many people have gotten involved, and I’m so grateful to the small group of organizers who have made it all possible!

If you’re interested in spinning in the competition, many teams still have spaces available. You can find out more on the website at http://www.spintogether.org. I’m also excited because right about the same time you get this, Felicia Lo of Sweet Georgia Yarns will be mentioning Spin Together in her wonderful vlog, Taking Back Friday. I can’t wait to hear what she says.

In terms of Purple Lamb shop news, I still have lots of dyed silk hankies that my daughter and I dyed up. Here’s a great one for fall that my daughter Mary dyed:

This week, I have also been dyeing up more colorways in my new Dream Sock yarn base. It is just unbelievably luscious and soft, which only makes sense given what it’s made of–baby alpaca, cashmere, and silk.

They tell me I’m never supposed to apologize for a price, but I almost feel like I should. It’s definitely my highest priced base at $36 per skein, but I actually set the price as low as I could (as always) because I want everyone to be able to enjoy this amazing yarn, even if it’s just for that special one-skein project once in a while. Here are the colorways I have available. As you can see, many of them go well together.

First off is Monet’s Water Lilies here:

The next one is Smitten. I made this one last time I had Dream Sock in stock, and it sold out really fast.

Here’s Perfect Purple, which would go beautifully with Smitten.

Next up is Pebbles on the Beach. I figured some nice non-boring neutrals would be good, and it also goes beautifully with Smaug’s Treasure and La Bohème below.

Next is one of my favorite colorways–Smaug’s Treasure–dyed on Dream Sock for the first time.

Last of all is La Bohème. Smaug’s Treasure and La Bohème are actually very similar, but La Bohème is darker as you can see.

Now, I honestly hadn’t planned on this, but when I saw these three together, I had to share them with you. From left to right there’s Pebbles on the Beach, Smaug’s Treasure, and La Bohème. You can see all three in the Dream Sock collection.

What shawl pattern would you use with these three together?

Speaking of shawl patterns, I will be interviewing Ambah O’Brien for my newsletter sometime in the next couple of weeks. I love her designs so much and can’t wait to see what she has to say.

I’ll be starting to dye up this month’s club colorways today based on “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” and just a reminder–I still have some Yarn Advent Calendars available for preorder in both the Shimmer Sock and Cozy Sock.

Happy fiber artistry!
