Some New Yarn Pairings, a Handwoven Scarf, and a Last-Minute Gift Idea

Good morning and happy Friday to you! Today I want to show you some yarn pairings I put together on my two newest bases–Stained Glass Sock and Squiggle Sock.

I also wanted to show you a scarf I wove using After the Rain, and if you are still in need of a Mothers’ Day gift, I may have just the thing for you.

Yarn Pairings

Let’s start with the yarn pairings. This first one has 5 skeins going from lightest to darkest on Stained Glass Sock. From left to right the colorways are Cosette, After the Rain, Unicorn, Purple Delight, and Field of Lavender.

This second set has three of the same colorways and two different ones. From left to right there’s Cosette, Unicorn, Field of Lavender, Purple Delight, and Bedecked.

I also has some sets on Squiggle Sock to show you. Here’s one with just two skeins that would look great together. They are Field of Lavender and Beowulf:

Here’s a set of three skeins on Squiggle Sock that would be great for one of the 3-skein shawls or a light summer top. The colorways are After the Rain, Beautiful Universe, and Beowulf.

I’ve saved my favorite combo for last. This one features After the Rain, Sapphire Dreams, and Beautiful Universe all on Squiggle Sock:

After the Rain Scarf

Speaking of After the Rain, I wove a scarf this week using After the Rain on Alpaca Lace Cloud for the weft and After the Rain on So Silky Sock for the warp. Here it is:

I wove it on my little Ashford rigid heddle loom. I wanted to warp it at 10 ends per inch, but I didn’t have a 10 dent heddle, so I used my 12 dent heddle and skipped every 6th hole and slot. It came out with a really nice drape, and it’s very soft.

Regarding weaving, I came across a great article in Handwoven Magazine on how weaving can help with stress and anxiety. Here’s the article. I’m sure the same is true of all the fiber arts!

Last-Minute Mothers’ Day Gift

If you are still searching for the perfect Mothers’ Day Gift–or if you are hoping to pass on a hint to someone looking for a gift for you–I wanted to let you know that I have extended the sale on gift cards for my shop. Just use the coupon code GIFTCARDFORMOM to receive 10% off any of my gift cards. You can also follow this link to have the coupon code applied automatically.

Purple Lamb gift cards never expire, and they are good for everything in my shop. They are available in amounts ranging from $15 to $200. It’s a great opportunity to let your favorite fiber artist know you care while allowing her the ability to choose her favorite colorway.

I think that’s everything for this week. Keep making things! Like the article said and like we all know, it’s good for us.

Happy fiber artistry, and Happy Mothers’ Day to all the moms!
