This week I have several freshly dyed semi-solid and tonal colorways to share with you including one that is completely new.
I dyed up Lilac on lots of different yarn bases this week. Lilac is so perfect for the coming of spring. The main colorway is a very light purple, and I add a dusting of dark purple speckles. Here it is on So Silky Sock:
…and here it is on Squiggle Sock for the very first time:
How fun is that?
I also dyed up Regal for the first time in a very long time. It’s a deep purple colorway with some tonal variation. Here it is on Sparkly Merino Sock:
Doesn’t the sparkle look incredible on this dark colorway?
Last but certainly not least is the new colorway. It’s called Egyptian Blue, and I created it to go with the February club colorway. I liked it so well that I thought I should make more. It’s a deep smoky blue that was inspired by a blue pigment the Egyptians used for thousands of years. It’s a tonal colorway with several different shades of blue. Here it is on Buttery Soft DK:
Colorway Combos
I put together a few colorway combination that use this week’s freshly dyed colorways along with some others.
From left to right, here are Egyptian Blue, Beowulf, and Regal on Stained Glass Sock:
Here are Eggplant, The Wedding of Aragorn and Arwen, and Regal, also on Stained Glass Sock:
You can see the difference between Eggplant and Regal here too.
For this next trio I just switched Eggplant for Lilac:
I can’t decide whether I prefer it with Eggplant or Lilac. Which one do you prefer?
This next one is one of my personal favorites. Here are Egyptian Blue, Ocean at Night, and Regal on Sock Perfection:
Next up are Lilac, Monet’s Cathedral, and Regal on Buttery Soft DK:
For this next trio, I replaced Monet’s Cathedral with Smitten:
If you just want all the purples (and why wouldn’t you?), you might consider Lilac, Eggplant, and Regal together. Here they are on Sparkly Merino Sock:
Last but not least, here is lovely collection of the semi-solid/tonal colorways I have in stock right now on Sparkly Merino Sock.
From left to right, the colorways are The Winedark Sea, Rosy-Fingered Dawn, Sage, Turquoise, Egyptian Blue, Lilac, Eggplant, and Regal:
Do you enjoy using semi-solids by themselves, or do you prefer to pair them with variegated colorways? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
The March Club Colorway
Back in January, we started waaaay back in art history with a prehistoric painting. Then last month I chose a painting from Ancient Egypt. Now we are moving forward to Ancient Greece. This fresco of Macedonian soldiers dates from the 4th century BC.
I’m looking forward to creating the colorways from this fresco! The final day to join the club or make changes is the 1st of March.
Eight Days of Easter Kits
Many thanks to everyone who already ordered one of the Eight Days of Easter kits. I still have quite a few available, but the deadline for ordering one is going to be next weekend. I want to be sure to have plenty of time to get them dyed, dried, packaged and shipped.
I can’t wait to get started! They are going to be so pretty–if I do say so myself.
I think that’s everything. Have a wonderful, peaceful, fiber-filled weekend.
