Show and Tell September 2022 and the October Club Colorway

Good morning and happy Friday! This week, I have the honor of showing you a number of beautiful projects made by others using Purple Lamb yarn and fiber. Before we get started, I wanted to mention that there won’t be a newsletter next week because I will be at the DFW Fiber Fest. In light of that, I’ll also be telling you about the October Club colorway a week earlier than usual.

Show and Tell

I’m so excited about what all these “yarn babies” and “fiber babies” grew up to become thanks to the wonderful fiber artists who created with them! I’m including links to all the patterns on Ravelry when I have pattern info.

Let’s start with Trace’s cowl. She used a pattern called Dark Waters Cowl by Sarah Grieve. She used yarn that I spun from my Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening Art Batts to make the cowl. Aren’t they both lovely?

Next up is Pat’s WIP. This is Casapinka’s Sharon Air mystery knit along, and Pat is using Sunflower, Rosy-Fingered Dawn, Arizona Sunset, and Sunset Orange, all dyed on So Silky Sock. Doesn’t it look good enough to eat?

Pat’s Shawl

Next up is Nicki’s shawl knit using the Boomerang Shawl pattern and Crab Nebula on Squiggle Sock. Isn’t the texture delightful?

Next up is Kathie’s felted art batt. She used my West Fork in Autumn art batts to make this gorgeous work of art.

In the last Show and Tell, I showed you Karen’s beautiful shawl as a work in progress. Now she has it all finished! She used Sedona Sunset and Lilac on Squoosh DK to create this shawl.

Next up are Amber’s darling socks. She used Freedom Blue on Sock Perfection, and the pattern is Hermione’s Everyday Socks by Erica Lueder.

Next I get to show you Trace’s lovely cowl. This one is extra special for me because she made it using yarn I spun from the Monet’s Houses of Parliament colorway, and she used my Diamond Twist Cowl pattern. Thank you, Trace!

This next cowl was also knit by Trace using the Diamond Twist Cowl pattern. I don’t know who dyed the yarn for this one, but isn’t it pretty?

The next project is Eve’s socks made using my Quino Checkerspot Butterfly colorway. Aren’t these the most delightful socks ever? She said she had enough yarn left over to knit her granddaughter a pair too.

This next photo is a first. Tammi made a curtain valance using Monet on Stained Glass Sock. Isn’t it wonderful?

Next up is Pat’s beautiful sweater. I showed it to you as a work in progress in July, and now it is all done. It’s Casapinka’s No Need to Panic Sweater, and she used my Pomegranate colorway on Squoosh DK.

Last but certainly not least is Trace’s gorgeous hat. She used Purple Delight on Stained Glass Sock to make it, and the pattern is Serpensortia by Jenny Noto.

Here’s a closeup so you can see the stitch pattern better:

I think the projects from this time were a great serendipitous mixture of unique and beautiful yarn and fiber, and I’m so happy to get to share them with you and hopefully inspire your next project.

October Club Colorway

I have been struggling a little bit to choose a painting for this month. Last month I chose a Renaissance painting, and I have been thinking of starting to go a little more chronologically by artistic era. Next up is a painting from the 17th century, and who better than one of the Dutch masters? I love them all, but the trouble is that not many of them make good choices for yarn since most are so very dark. However, I was able to find one that was brighter than most, and I thought it would be quite lovely as yarn and art batts. It is called The Concert, and it was painted by Gerrit van Honthorst in 1623.

If you would like to join one of my yarn or art batt clubs, please do so by October 1st to be in time for the October clubs.

I think that’s everything for this week. If you are in the area, I would love to see at the DFW Fiber Fest, and if not we will talk again in two weeks. Happy fiber artistry!
