Good morning! I hope you are well.
Today I get to send my very favorite type of newsletter to you. It’s the Show and Tell feature I do every couple months where I get to share the beautiful things people like you have made using Purple Lamb yarn and fiber.
I want to thank everyone who sent me a project to include. I have said this before, but it is such a delight to see what my yarn “babies” grown up to become!
Show and Tell
Let’s start with two different projects made using Rosy-Fingered Dawn.
JoDee shared some great socks she made using Rosy-Fingered Dawn on Sparkly Merino Sock.
She kindly shared the photo when I had another customer ask how the speckles work out on this colorway.
JoAnn also shared this beautiful dress she made for her granddaughter using Rosy-Fingered Dawn on So Silky Sock:
Every time JoAnn shares one of her beautiful creations, I keep thinking what fortunate grandchildren she has!
This next photo is a swatch that Marla made for her sweater using Wild Rose on Squoosh DK:
Even just the swatch is so lovely. I can’t wait to see the finished project!
The next photo shows a hat my daughter knit for her boyfriend using Enchanted Forest on So Silky Sock:
I shared a photo of this last time, but this photo is so much better and truer in terms of colors. She used Tin Can Knit’s Barley Light pattern from the Simple Collection.
This next photo was shared by Shirley who created her own sock pattern to use with three different day’s colorways from last year’s Advent Calendar. Aren’t these delightful?
The next photo is from Marla who made these socks and fingerless mitts. For the house socks, she used the Concentric Slipper Socks pattern by Michelle Bernstein and held the worsted-weight yarn double to make nice thick socks for someone who lives in a very cold climate. The colorway is Marianne.
Two customers shared projects they have made using Black Butterfly this time.
Holly shared these fabulous socks she made using the Knotty and Twisted Pattern by Sheila Bond:
Also, Geri shared this beautiful shawl she made using the Arlequin Shawl by Peggy Maxheim. She used Black Butterfly on Squoosh DK. The stripes and edges are a Madelintosh colorway.
Geri sent me one other beautiful project photo as well. She made this beautiful shawl using a pattern called The Simple Shawl, which she said is easy to customize. She used Monet’s Water Lilies on Sparkly Merino Sock for the body of the shawl and a pretty green colorway from Dragonfly Fibers for the edge.
I want to thank all of you who contributed photos of your beautiful work this time around. I find these projects inspirational, and I hope everyone else does too!
You can send me photos anytime, and I will hang onto them until the next Show and Tell newsletter in a couple of months.
A Few More Art Batt Advent Calendars
Last week I introduced my new Art Batt Advent Calendars that I’ll be making for the first time this year. As of right now, I have 7 more kits available. I’ll be making the kits and sending them out right around November 20th.
On a related topic, I’m going to start dyeing up the Yarn Advent Calendars this coming week. I can’t wait to get started. These have all sold out, but if you got one, I’ll go ahead and tell you that I’m using the Great Barrier Reef as my color inspiration.
It’s a good thing I ordered all the yarn for these when I did because it’s all out of stock at my wholesaler now. All the mills are still catching up from having to close down during the height of the pandemic.
Some New Colorways
This week I have one completely new colorway and a couple of colorways I have dyed on different bases for the first time.
The completely new colorway is called Cinnamon, and it was inspired by all the warm, lovely, comforting foods made using that wonderful spice. It’s a reddish brown, and it would look great with several of my fall colorways including Pumpkin Spice Latte.
Here is Cinnamon shown on Sock Perfection.
I have it available on Sparkly Merino Sock as well.
The other new thing I want to show you is Complications dyed up on Alpaca Lace Cloud. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out because the fuzzy texture changes colorways in some intriguingly unexpected ways, but I must say that I love it.
Here is Complications show on both Alpaca Lace Cloud (right) and Sock Perfection (left):
These would be a great combo for my Knit and Chat Infinity Scarf. I finally got the pattern listed on Ravelry, but if you’re getting the yarn from me, just ask and I will include the pattern as well.
The last newbie is Eggplant dyed for the first time on Quick and Cozy Bulky:
You can see these and all the other “newbies” in my shop by going to the New This Month.
Have a wonderful week full of all the joys of the fiber arts!
