Show and Tell

For this month’s Show and Tell, we actually had an even number of knit, crocheted, and woven contributions, which is really delightful–as are all of the projects.

This first project was crocheted by Anne using Peacock Feathers on Stained Glass Sock. Isn’t this beautiful?

She said the diagonal stripes just happened on their own. I love it when that happens, don’t you? She used a stitch that she found on this video on Facebook and she used a 3 mm hook.

The next project was woven by Liz Gipson of Yarnworker. If you ever decide to learn more about rigid heddle weaving, Liz is an amazing teacher who has lots of videos and books as well as a very helpful newsletter. She used a 10-dent loom and a pickup stick to make this lovely scarf. The colorways are Sedona and Sunset Orange on Buttery Soft DK. I have both colorways available as dyed to order if you are interested.

The next project is from Sue. She knit this beautiful cardigan using Sunflower. Look at the beautiful cabled button band!

Courtney is crocheting this next WIP. It is the Virus Shawl by Julia Marquardt made using Eowyn Pleads with Aragorn. Isn’t it beautiful?

Next up is this lovely shawl that Barbara knit. She created it using Peacock Feathers combined with Turquoise and Freedom Blue.

Last but not least is Tara’s Advent calendar. The theme for 2023 was Aragorn’s journey through The Lord of the Rings, and Tara wove this beautiful blanket using Mithril as the warp and all the different minis as the weft.

I was so impressed by these gorgeous projects! I hope they inspire your next project. Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to photograph your project and send it to me!

Angel Wings Ponchette Kit Preorder

I’m so excited to bring this kit to you. It’s perfect for a relaxing yet beautiful knit to start the summer! The kit includes my new Angel Wings Ponchette knitting pattern and the eight gradient mini skeins to make your ponchette look like the one in the photo below.

I named the pattern the Angel Wings Ponchette because its diamond shape creates ethereal wings that flow behind your arms. It combines old shale lace front and back with a a picot bind-off.

I had originally planned to wait to publish the pattern until the 2025 Eight Days of Easter kits, but I just couldn’t wait that long to share it with you.

I am leaving the preorder open through next Thursday, May 9th. After that I’ll start dyeing your yarn. I’ll be shipping the yarn along with a printed copy of the pattern by the end of May or a little earlier. You can learn more about the Angel Wing Ponchette kits right here.

I created the pattern to be used with eight 20 gram minis, but you can certainly make it with 2 skeins of sock-weight yarn instead. If you already have the perfect yarn for this and just want the pattern, you can find it here.

Fresh from the Dye Pots

I introduced Limestone last week, and it sold out quickly, so I dyed up more on both Sock Perfection and Squoosh DK. Here it is on Squoosh DK:

I also dyed up Dreams of the Sea on several yarn bases. Here it is on Squiggle Sock:

Here is Dreams of the Sea on Sparkly Merino Sock along with Turquoise and Visit to Lyme:

On a Personal Note

Our younger daughter graduates from college in less than 2 weeks! How can this be? She is still supposed to be about five years old–dancing and singing everywhere. I’m so proud of her. She majored in philosophy and minored in both Italian and music–and this at a university with a core curriculum of 60 credit hours. I think she took at least 18 credit hours every semester and is still graduating with honors. She will be starting a teaching job next school year, which is wonderful. The only bad part for us is that it is a thousand miles away.

I hope you have a wonderful week filled with plenty of time for the fiber arts!
