Good morning and happy Friday to you. Today I have the honor of sharing some beautiful projects made with Purple Lamb yarn.
First of all, I want to share this stunning shawl made by Fran.
She used Stephen West’s Winter Lights pattern, and I must say I think Fran’s version is even more lovely than Mr. West’s original colors. She used my Jackson Pollock’s Mural colorway, which is available as dyed to order. The other colorways are from Rogue Yarn and Baah Yarn.
Next up is Susan’s fabulous sweater made using Beautiful Universe.
She used Isabell Kraemer’s On the Beach pattern. It is a rare free sweater pattern.
I actually just finished dyeing up Beautiful Universe this week, so I have it available on lots of different yarn bases. Here it is on Cashmere Sock for the first time:
I have two great pairs of socks to show you as well. Karen knit the first pair using Monet’s Water Lilies. The colorway is available as dyed to order right now, but I’ll be dyeing it up again sometime in the next few weeks.
Karen used Kay Litton’s pattern, Vanilla Socks on Magic Loop by Crazy Sock Lady Designs. I asked her about the heel, and she said that was the heel that came with the pattern. I love the pretty lace at the top and the way the colorway worked up into subtle stripes.
I also have a pair of socks knit by Kathleen using Rosy-Fingered Dawn on Stained Glass Sock.
Isn’t that lovely and fun with the frilly top and the black strand from Stained Glass Sock? Kathleen used the Midnight Dancer pattern by Sari Nordlund. She changed the heel to the Eye of Partridge heel.
Last but not least, I want to share Amy’s lovely Eight Days of Easter kit. She used Amber O’Brien’s Kalari shawl that I included with the kit. Here is the whole shawl:
Here is a closeup of it:
Amy found that she needed a little bit of the yarn from the first colorway to finish out the 8th section, and I love the way it turned out with the edge.
I think it’s okay for me to share the surprise of the colorways now too. From top to bottom, they are:
- Crocuses in Snow
- Party Like It’s 2021
- Galadriel’s Gift
- The Hands of the King
- Dreams of the Sea
- Sapphire Dreams
- Pagliacci
- Phantom of the Opera
Some New Colorways
I also wanted to show you a few of the newest colorways in the shop. Last week I made Unicorn on pretty much all the bases. I sort of refuse on principle to think of unicorns as cutesy. Instead, my inspiration is that exalted mythical creature of the ancient and medieval eras. Here’s the colorway:
I went all out and dyed Unicorn on seven different yarn bases. You can find them all right here. This is such a great spring colorway!
After that I dyed up some Van Gogh’s Starry Night for the first time in forever. I still have some on So Silky Sock and Sock Perfection.
I knit up a Starry Night hat while I was at it. Here that is to give you an idea of how the colorway can work up:
After that I dyed up After the Rain, which is a new favorite and another excellent colorway for spring.
After the Rain is currently available on six different yarn bases and fiber too. I especially love it on my new Squiggle Sock here:
I have been thinking about working up a simple woven keyhole scarf using After the Rain using the wonderfully fuzzy Alpaca Lace Cloud for the weft and one of my sock-weight bases for the warp.
Let me know if that is something you would be interested in.
As I mentioned above, I also dyed up Beautiful Universe this week on all the bases so to speak.
I’m not sure if I mentioned this already or not, but I have changed my process a little bit lately. Instead of doing a single batch of one colorway and moving onto the next colorway, I have been trying to dye up a wide variety of bases on each colorway before moving to the next one so it is easy for you to find exactly what you need for your project. I generally go through my list of current colorways alphabetically unless the muse strikes and I stop to create something new.
I’m just in the process of moving from spring colorways to summer ones, and I have some ideas for some new colorways that I can’t wait to work up. Hopefully I’ll have some new ones to show you next time.
Until then, happy fiber artistry!
