Happy Friday–or whatever day it is today. I hope you and all your loved ones are safe and well, and I hope that the fiber arts are helping to keep you sane!
I have a few new things to tell you about today and some new colorways to share as well.
Searching by Color
First of all, I wanted to mention that there’s a new way to search Purple Lamb Fiber Arts. You can now search for yarn by color. Just scroll down to Yarn – Search by Yarn Color on the menu, and you can see all the yarn colorways that contain a particular color. I tried to include the variegated colorways under each color that makes sense. That means that you will find many colorways under multiple color categories. For example, you will see Wild Rose (shown below) under both Red / Pink and Orange / Yellow / Gold.
Of course, you can still search by yarn weight and yarn base too. If you are trying to find matching colorways for a project, I recommend searching by yarn base so you can easily compare all the different colorways available on that base.
Local Delivery
On a different topic, if you are local to me, I wanted to mention that I am always happy to deliver your yarn and fiber instead of shipping it to you. If you live in or around Cottonwood, Clarkdale, or Cornville, just use the coupon code, NOSHIPLOCAL, and either my husband or I will leave it on your porch, knock, and stand way back.
Purple Lamb Gift Cards
I also wanted to mention that I have a new form of gift card as of this week. These are a bit easier to use than the old ones, and they make fantastic gifts for your favorite fiber artists. They never expire, and they make superb Mothers’ Day gifts and birthday presents, especially right now when the options for doing fun things out and about are so very limited and when the fiber arts are such tremendous stress relief in these difficult times.
Fiber Available
If you are a spinner or a felter and you typically make your own fiber blends, I realized that you may be having a bit of trouble getting fiber right now. I went through all the fiber I use for my art batts and found that I had some I can share. You can find muga silk, mulberry silk, camel down, and several different colors of extra-fine merino in the Fiber to Spin and Felt section of my shop.
Here’s the poofiest one. That’s not a word, but it should be. This is what just 2 ounces of baby camel down looks like:
Some New Colorways
I made a new batch of Beautiful Universe on Sock Perfection yesterday:
At the same time, I decided to take that wonderful pinkish-purplish color that is in Beautiful Universe and make a new semi-solid colorway with it. You can see it here with Annunciation Blue and Beautiful Universe:
I named the new colorway No Shrinking Violet. It’s a very bright and cheerful colorway that’s right between pink and purple, and depending on the light it can look like one or the other. Wouldn’t those three make a fabulous shawl?
I will leave you with one of the perennial favorites from my shop:
I just dyed up a new batch yesterday. The little sections of Burgundy Rose, Caribbean Blue, Sea Foam, and Lilac look like little stars on a field of black when you knit with it and like short lines when you weave with it. Here’s a vest I wove for my daughter a few years ago using Black Butterfly for the warp and handspun for the weft:
Stay well!
