Good morning and happy Friday to you.
I know all of our thoughts and prayers are with Ukraine right now. I don’t know about you, but I feel so helpless in the face of Putin’s terrible invasion. In order to do just a tiny something for the people of Ukraine, I decided to make a new colorway yesterday called Sunflower. Sunflowers are the national flower of Ukraine and also a symbol of solidarity in the face of aggression.
I’m going to be sending 25% of the revenue from the sale of Sunflower throughout March to the Ukraine Solidarity Fund, and they are matching donations to send to Ukraine too! I have Sunflower listed on five different yarn bases, all of which are in various stages of drying as I write this. Here it is on Sock Perfection:
On the same topic, Casapinka just published a free hat pattern called Ripples Make Waves (Ravelry link) with a sunflower motif. She asks people to donate the cost of a pattern to an organization helping Ukraine. A quick search on Ravelry shows that lots of designers had the same wonderful idea.
I have also had some requests from people who want to make projects using the Ukrainian flag colors of sunflower yellow and blue, so I just dyed up a new blue called Freedom Blue that is a really good match for the blue in the Ukrainian flag. That’s in the shop now too on Squoosh DK and Sock Perfection. Here are Sunflower and Freedom Blue together:
If you need them on a different yarn base for a project you have in mind, just let me know.
Not Spring Sale
As I mentioned over the last couple weeks, I have been dyeing up so many spring colorways that now I need space for all of them, so I’m having a sale on all the “not spring” colorways. This includes some lovely fall and winter colorways, the aran-weight yarn I have in stock, and my hand-dyed top too. You can see all the items on sale here. Just use the coupon code NOTSPRING20 to take 20% off.
Eight Days of Easter Kits
Last week I told you about this year’s Eight Days of Easter Kits, and I want to thank everyone who already purchased one. I still have some left, so if you are still about getting one, it isn’t too late. You can find them here on my website. I’m so excited to start dyeing these up! I’ll be starting to dye them in mid-March after I get all the club colorways sent off to their new homes.
Fresh from the Dye Pot
The new colorways that I have dyed up this week include Afremov’s Farewell to Anger, Eggplant, and Enchanted Forest. I dyed Enchanted Forest with just a smidge more blue this time, and I’m really pleased with it. It’s just a little bit darker and even more “foresty.” Here it is on Squiggle Sock:
All these colorways are available on multiple yarn bases. You can see them all in the New This Month section of my shop.
Show and Tell Next Week
Last but not least, I am planning to do a show and tell newsletter next week where I get to show everyone YOUR beautiful projects. If you have photos of finished items or works in progress made at least in part with Purple Lamb yarn or fiber, please do email them to me. I love seeing what you make, and I know everyone else does too! We can all inspire each other this way.
Stay well!
