New Yarn Sets to Knit and Assigned Pooling Patterns to Crochet!

Good morning, and happy Friday! Today I have some new curated sets of yarn made to go with some fabulous knitwear patterns. I also dug deep to find some assigned pooling patterns to crochet.

Assigned Pooling Crochet Patterns

I often feel like I don’t share enough in terms of patterns for all of you wonderful crocheters, so let’s start with you. If you’ve been reading my newsletter lately, you’ll know how excited I am about the whole concept of assigned pooling that has taken the knitting world by storm, but I kept wondering why I didn’t see much about assigned pooling for crochet. I started hunting for crochet patterns that use the assigned pooling technique, and I was able to find a few lovely patterns. Here they are:

As a knitter and someone who basically only knows what ch and sc mean for crochet, it seems to me that assigned pooling and crochet should be more of a thing, so I contacted a friend and crochet designer to see if she would be willing to work up a new crochet pattern using my yarn. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with.

In the meantime, if you have found other crocheted assigned pooling patterns, I’d be really grateful if you can send me a link so I can share them here. If any of these look like something you want to make and you just happen to need some yarn to make them, here’s the link to the ever-growing assigned pooling collection at Purple Lamb.

Curated Sets

This week, I created some yarn sets to go with three patterns I really love. I’ll show them to you one at a time. The first is called As You Wish by Mary Annarella of Lyrical Knits. It’s a big beautiful wrap with slipped stitches and enough complexity to keep an intermediate or advanced knitter happy. Now, if you are a fan of The Princess Bride (as I am), you will recognize the reference from the name. The whole pattern is full of hilarious references to the The Princess Bride.

As You Wish calls for four skeins of fingering-weight yarn where the first two contrast with each other and the second two contrast with each other. I made sets using a variety of fingering-weight yarn bases. Here are the sets I made to go with As You Wish:

Next up is a pattern I have been admiring for quite a while. It’s one of Lena Mathisson’s mermaid-themed patterns called Gift of the Mermaid, and the stitch patterns on this one are just amazing. Here is closeup of it:

Here are the yarn sets I created for Gift of the Mermaid:

Last but not least, I made one more curated set for Andrea Mowry’s The Shift. Here that is on Super Sport:

You can find find all these yarn sets in the Sets and Kits section of my shop right here.

Fresh from the Dye Pots

This week I dyed up Burgundy Rose on lots of yarn bases. Burgundy Rose is one of my core semi-solids. It goes with a lot of my variegated colorways. Here it is on So Silky Sock:

I also dyed up a number of my butterfly colorways for the first time since January. Here they are:

LYS Day

This Saturday is Local Yarn Store Day, so if you are fortunate enough to have a local yarn store near you, please go check it out. Lots of them are having sales this weekend to celebrate. The folks who run these shops are always so knowledgeable and so kind!

I think that’s everything for this week. Have a beautiful weekend! I hope you find time to enjoy the fiber arts.
