New Colorways and Last Day of the Mothers’ Day Sale

Good morning and happy Friday to you. I hope you have had a peaceful and productive week.

I wanted to remind you that today is the final day of my Mothers’ Day Sale. Just use the coupon code, THANKSMOM, to take 20% off all my in-stock hand-dyed yarn and hand-dyed top as well.

Now, here’s the really fun part. We have several completely new colorways, and I have added those to the sale too, which is not something I would normally do. I just figured moms deserve all the good things, and I’d like to make it a little easier for you to get some new yummy yarn.

I dyed up Bouquet on Squoosh DK, Squiggle Sock, and Sock Perfection. Here is Bouquet on Squiggle Sock for the first time:

Next up is Crab Nebula. My son, Joseph, designed and dyed this on Sock Perfection, and it’s so beautiful! He took his inspiration from a Hubble Space Telescope photo of that famous nebula. I’m so proud of him!

You know what’s amazing? I taught him to dye yarn, and he uses the same basic techniques that I use, yet we each create differently. I love that! It’s true for every dyer I know, and I really think there’s room for all the indie dyers because we all create differently. That’s what is so fantastic about what we do.

The next new colorway I want to show you is Field of Lavender. For this one, I took my inspiration from a photograph I found years ago taken in the south of France. The photo is copyrighted, so I can’t show it to you, but the front part has a large field of lavender with so many shades of purple. Further back is a field filled with tall yellow-green grass. Behind that is a road with one single red Citroen driving down it, and behind that is a forest with bright green deciduous trees. I made it first as an art batt and decided it was high time to create a yarn colorway too.

I dyed Field of Lavender on Sock Perfection, Squiggle Sock, and Stained Glass Sock.

The last new colorway I want to show you is Carousel Horse. This colorway is really special to me. It was inspired by a stained glass window my mom made and that I now have. My parents had a stained glass shop while I was growing up. My dad was a Navy captain, and after he retired, they decided to pursue their dreams of owning their own stained glass shop. They won many awards and made such beautiful things! I spent every day after school and most days during summer in their shop, and I absorbed a great deal from them.

I never really thought until recently about the connection between their work as artisans and my own. I hope they are smiling down at me from Heaven as they watch me follow in their footsteps, pursuing my own dreams with Purple Lamb.

I used the colors from my mom’s stained glass window, and then I added thin lines of black to emulate the lead in between each piece of glass.

I dyed it on Sock Perfection, Stained Glass Sock, and Squoosh DK. Here is Carousel Horse:

I think that’s everything for this week. I’m getting geared up to dye up the club colorways next week, and we’re starting to put the new studio together at the new house. It’s going to be so great! I’ll be sure to give you a tour once we’re settled.

In the meantime, happy fiber artistry! I hope you have a wonderful week.
