Good morning and happy Friday to you. I am still working on the Advent calendars, but I took some time out to dye up a fresh batch of Monet’s Cathedral. I’ll tell you a bit about both.
Monet’s Cathedral
Monet’s Cathedral is now one of the oldest colorways I have in my shop. I am always creating new colorways and letting go of old ones, but this one has been an active colorway for quite a few years, and with good reason.
It was inspired by one of Monet’s series of paintings of the Rouen cathedral, which he painted again and again at different times of the day and different times of year. In many ways, this colorway was the inspiration for me to start the art-inspired clubs.
Yesterday I took a break from packaging my Advent minis to dye up Monet’s Cathedral on many different yarn bases.
Monet’s Cathedral goes beautifully with so many other colorways, including Lilac, Eggplant, Annunciation Blue, Northern Lights, and Visit to Lyme. Here it is on Stained Glass Sock with Visit to Lyme, Turquoise, The Hands of the King, and Annunciation Blue. I have all of these in stock as I write this.
Advent Calendars
I am all done dyeing and twisting the yarn for this year’s Advent calendar, and as of last night we started putting the minis into their respective little boxes. I am really pleased with the way they turned out this year. My goal was to be faithful to events in The Lord of the Rings while also creating a cohesive set that will work well together. I’m still on schedule to get them out by early November. I made a video of each of the colorways and the meaning behind them, and I’ll be sharing that sometime early in 2024 so as not to spoil the surprise.
I hope you have a great weekend and find time to enjoy the fiber arts and beautiful fall weather. Stay safe and well!
