I have so many fresh-squeezed colorways to show you! I started the week with Visit to Lyme. This colorway was inspired by Jane Austen’s book Persuasion. Specifically, it was inspired by the part where all the characters go to visit the seaside town of Lyme, which marks a turning point in the book. Here is Visit to Lyme on Stained Glass Sock:
…and here is a closeup of a hat I knit using Visit to Lyme on Squoosh DK:
The next colorway I dyed was After the Rain. This colorway was inspired by all the beautiful fresh, bright colors right after a rain storm. Here it is on Sock Perfection:
…and again, here is a sample knit:
Both Visit to Lyme and After the Rain are what I call Splashed and Speckled Colorways, which means the colors are placed in a way that is unique to each skein, and they are not likely to pool.
The next colorway I dyed was a new one called Limestone. It is a very subtle colorway inspired by the huge limestone blocks of the Cistercian abbey near our house. It has white and light beige and some speckles in darker brown just like the real thing.
I only dyed it on Sock Perfection, but if you would like to see it on other yarn bases, let me know.
The next colorway I dyed was Beautiful Universe, which is probably my all-time favorite, and I know it is many of yours as well. I dyed it on Stained Glass Sock and Sparkly Merino Sock. Here it is on Sparkly Merino Sock:

Metamorphosis Butterfly Shawl Sets
In addition to the individual colorways, I dyed up four of my butterfly colorways on Stained Glass Sock for the first time this spring. I created these colorways a couple years ago based on actual butterfly species, and some of them have really funny names. Two of the colorways I chose are assigned pooling colorways, and two are not. I chose these four because it occurred to me that they would make a great Metamorphosis Shawl–all four together or just two if you prefer. Here are the four colorways:
From left to right they are Quino Checkerspot (Splashed and Speckled Colorway), Indian Jezebel (Assigned Pooling Colorway), Monarch (Semi-Solid Colorway), and Colorado Hairstreak (Assigned Pooling Colorway). You can find them all in the Butterfly Collection in my shop. I debated about listing them as sets but decided it would be better to leave them for you to mix and match as you see fit.
Here is the Metamorphosis Shawl from the back knit with Peacock Feathers and Peacock Eyes:
To make the shawl, you will need two skeins of a sock-weight assigned pooling colorway and two skeins of a sock-weight semi-solid or splashed and speckled colorway for the Metamorphosis Shawl, and I would be happy to include the pattern along with the yarn. Just put the shawl pattern along with four skeins in your cart and use the coupon code METAMORPHOSIS to get the pattern for free.
A Beautiful New Pattern from Carol Wells
Carol and I have collaborated on several projects now, but I finally got to meet this wonderful lady in person a couple weeks ago. We got to sit down and visit with some delightful college students (including Carol’s daughter) doing charity knitting and crocheting. Carol designs amazing knitwear patterns and just published a new pattern called Brigid’s Shawl.
She had just finished the shawl when we met, so I got to see it in person. Carol used a woven stitch, cable edges, and a lace arrow edge. Look at the detail on this beautiful shawl!
She created it using Annunciation Blue on So Silky Sock. Just as Carol did, I think you would probably want to stick with a semi-solid or tonal colorway so as to keep the focus on the stitch patterns. You can find Carol’s pattern right here on Ravelry.

Show and Tell Next Week
I’d like to do a Show and Tell newsletter next week. I try to do one of these every couple months. It’s an opportunity for you to share what you’ve been making with other makers who truly understand and appreciate the amount of time and care that go into each and every project. It’s also a great opportunity to get some new ideas for your next project.
If you would like to share a work in progress and/or finished item in the newsletter, please email a photo or two along with yarn and pattern info.
Have a wonderful weekend!
