Good morning! I have several things I want to tell you about today.
First of all, I wanted to talk to you about the Eight Days of Easter Kits I’ve created. I’ve dyed up 7 soft speckled pastels reminiscent of hand-dyed Easter eggs as well as one white skein for each set. The idea is to be able to open up one “yarn egg” and knit that section of the included pattern each day for all 8 days of the octave of Easter. Of course if you decide to open them all up at once, I promise not to tell. Here’s what the yarn looks like:
I dyed these on my most luxurious yarn base–So Silky Sock–which is made of 50% mulberry silk and 50% superwash merino. It’s just such a lovely yarn base!
Next I divided up all the skeins into 10 gram minis to be packaged inside of extra-large Easter eggs like this:
Each 10-gram sock-weight mini skein is 40 yards, so the whole set has 320 yards.
Next, I’m putting each set of 8 minis inside their Easter eggs and into a small woven basket complete with paper Easter grass and a little surprise that isn’t in the picture.
As I mentioned, I’m also including a knitting pattern, which I’m printing on nice heavy paper and sending with the kit. It’s my Diamond Twist Cowl Pattern, which is a simple but elegant open-work cowl perfect for spring and summer. I first made the pattern last spring for my Jane Austen lace collection. The colors are different, but here’s my daughter modeling that one:
I feel so fortunate to have such a lovely and willing model!
I made a few small adjustments to the pattern to make it a perfect match for the Eight Days of Easter Kit. If you prefer to crochet or weave with the set, I’m sure you can find a great pattern for that too, and you can feel free to pass the knitting pattern on to a knitting friend.
When I mentioned that I was going to be doing this a couple days ago on my Purple Lamb Facebook page. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I had sold all 10 of them by the end of the day (!!!), so I decided I had just enough time to make 10 more sets.
Thank you so much to everyone who has already ordered one. I will be mailing them all out by priority mail on Monday at the latest to be sure to get them to you in time for Easter.
As I’m sure you’ve already realized, these Eight Days of Easter Kits may be even better than a chocolate Easter bunny, so they also makes great gifts. You can learn more about them or order one in my shop right here. Here’s one more closeup of this soft and speckled pastel yarn:
In other news, the spring sale on my DK-weight yarn continues, so hop on over and see if there’s anything you can’t live without. Yeah, that was on purpose.
Last of all but certainly not least, I wanted to tell you about Jill’s Beaded Knit Bits. A couple weeks ago, I placed an order for some adorable frog stitch markers from her shop. Here is the set I ordered:
After seeing how beautiful her stitch markers are and what great quality her work is, I reached out to her about teaming up, and she agreed! Here’s how it works:
When you order anything from me, you’ll get a 15% off coupon in your box for Jill’s beautiful stitch markers and knitting abacuses, and when you order from Jill, you’ll get a 15% off coupon code for my shop.
Oh, I almost forgot. I owe you all an apology. I was adjusting the settings for my newsletter subscribers and accidentally ended up resending the “thanks for subscribing” email. It includes the same one-use coupon code you received when you first subscribed. If you have already used it, I’m afraid it won’t work again, but if you haven’t feel free to use it. Sorry for the extra email.
That’s it for now. I probably will not be sending out a newsletter next week since Friday will be Good Friday, so I hope you have a blessed Easter and a lovely spring!
I am so excited to receive the “Eight Days”. I feel like a kid. lol Thanks
Thank you, Windybreez. I am so glad! I hope you really love it in person.
