Eight Days of Easter Kits!

Good morning and happy Friday to you! I hope you are having a mild winter full of warm fires, hot coffee, and a cozy project in the works.

This year’s Eight Days of Easter Mini-Skein kits are available for preorder, and I couldn’t be more excited. The theme this year is butterflies. The packaging will be the same delightful Easter eggs as in previous years, but the colorways will be quite different.

Shawl Pattern
I’ll be including a knit shawl pattern of my own design this year. I designed it specifically to go with the colorways and make best use of the different types of colorways. The pattern is appropriate for an advanced beginner, but it is also interesting enough for a more advanced knitter.

Yarn
You’ll get eight 25 gram minis with the kit. Each one is 100 yards, so it will be 800 yards altogether. This year I’m making my own mini skeins from my Stained Glass Sock yarn base, which is a very soft 2-ply yarn made of 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon. Before I dye it, one of the plies is white, and the other ply goes back and forth between black and white, which is perfect for the black veins on all of these butterflies.

Colorways
This year’s colorways are inspired by different species of butterflies, and altogether the shawl will create a complex gradient. The colorways are a combination of Splashed and Speckled colorways, Semi-Solid colorways, and Assigned Pooling colorways. This is going to be so much fun!

Packaging
Each mini skein will come inside an Easter egg, and all eight Easter eggs will be placed in a reusable basket complete with Easter grass and a printed copy of the pattern. You’ll also receive a pretty and useful gift for both knitters and crocheters.

The idea is to open the numbered eggs in order and knit or crochet that part of the pattern each day during the Easter season. Of course if it takes a little longer, that’s okay too. It’s meant to be enjoyed for as long as it takes.

Pre-Order Timeline
I’m offering this as a pre-order. I already have all the supplies on hand, and I’ll be dyeing all the kits and shipping them out by March 26th in order to have plenty of time for you to receive them before Easter, which is on April 9th this year. The pre-order will be available until either the first week of March or when all the kits I can make sell out–whichever comes first.

Gift

These kits make wonderful Easter presents for your favorite fiber artist. If you’re getting this as a gift for someone else, please let me know and feel free to include a note for the recipient in the note to seller when you check out. I’ll include your note with the package, and I’ll leave out any pricing info.

Fresh from the Dye Pots

This week I have dyed up A Little Princess and Purple Iris. As it happens, these are both colorways I have been dyeing for years. Here is A Little Princess on So Silky Sock:

A Little Princess is a Splashed and Speckled colorway, and it goes very well with Lilac, Annunciation Blue, and Burgundy Rose.

Here is Purple Iris, also on So Silky Sock:

This colorway was inspired by our neighbors’ beautiful irises. Purple Iris is a block variegated colorway, and it can actually be used for assigned pooling so long as you choose the lilac, yellow, or green as the assigned pooling color and not the dark purple.

See you next week. Stay cozy!
