It’s time for another Solitary Skein Sale!
What’s a solitary skein, you ask? It’s when I only have one more skein in stock of a particular colorway on a particular yarn base. I prefer to only have one dye batch in stock at a time, so I usually wait until all the skeins are sold to dye up a new batch.
In order to make room for some new yarn, I’m offering 20% off all my solitary skeins from now through Monday night. There are no minimums and no maximums, and the coupon code will be applied automatically when you check out.
Here’s the link to the sale:
There are colorways from almost every yarn base I carry included in the sale.
The one exception to the rule of a single skein is a Three Skein Shawl Set I just listed. In that case, it’s actually three skeins together, but I’m going to go ahead and include it in the sale anyway. It would go beautifully with so many different three-skein shawl patterns. I included a few pattern suggestions in the listing.
Here is the set:
I also have some new spinning fiber in the shop. If you’ve been thinking about learning to spin, I am making it a little easier. I have some kits with a nicely balanced spindle from Heavenly Handspinning and some of my hand-dyed organic Polwarth top. I love Polwarth because it’s very soft, but it also has a long staple length, which is easier to handle when you’re just starting out.
If you’re already a spinner, I just dyed up some more 100% mulberry silk top in a couple of new colorways. I recommend this for more experienced spinners as silk is a bit slippery on its own, but it’s really lovely and fun to spin too.
You can find these as well as my art batts and silk hankies in the Fiber to Spin and Felt section of my shop.
Yarn Advent Calendars
There’s only one more week to order a Yarn Advent Calendar. I’ll start dyeing up the symmetrical gradient of 25 mini skeins in early November and mailing them out by the 20th. I’ll be including a copy of Ambah O’Brien’s Adventurer Wrap pattern, and I planned the colorways to go beautifully with her pattern. I can’t wait to get started! The deadline to order is midnight on October 31st, so when you get home from trick or treating, remember to order your own treat as well if you haven’t already.
Club Colorway for November
I finally chose the inspiration for my yarn and fiber club colorway for November. It’s the “Birth of Venus” by Sandro Botticelli. It was painted around 1485, and it’s the epitome of the Renaissance.
If you would like to become a club member, you can still do so in time for the November club colorway through November 1st. If you are a current club member, you also have until November 1st to switch clubs, skip a month, or order extra skeins for the month. I have a few club members who wait to see what the club colorway will be and then decide how much to order based on the painting, and that’s completely fine.
If you have a favorite painting you’d like to see me use as the inspiration for a future club colorway, please do let me know. I’m always happy to consider your recommendations.
Spin Together
Spin Together is pretty much all wrapped up. I’m just starting to return to normalcy after having it be so much a focus since the end of July, but I think most everyone had a great time, and I’m really pleased with what we accomplished. My goal above all was to give spinners an opportunity to spin a little extra and to bring together spinners from everywhere, and I think we really did that. We’ll be keeping the Facebook group active as a place to discuss spinning, get help, and share what everyone is making.
Speaking of Facebook, if you are on Facebook, please do like or follow my Purple Lamb Facebook page. I send out this newsletter almost every week, but in between I often ask your opinion or mention something new on the Facebook page.
I hope you are enjoying the fall weather and all the fabulous colorways that go with it so beautifully.
Happy fiber artistry!
