Happy Friday to you! I hope you are doing well. It’s getting positively chilly here in North Texas. I know those of you in the North are laughing at me as I say that, but that’s okay.
In light of the cooler weather, I decided to create some new colorway combos for 3-skein shawls using Squoosh DK. Squoosh DK is made of 100% extra-soft superwash merino, and it’s just incredibly and squishy and so soft! I personally love DK-weight yarn. It is the happy-medium of the yarn world. It’s cozy enough for winter without being too hot for fall and spring, and it works up quickly.
I also gathered some pattern possibilities to go along with the yarn. Most of the patterns are from designers you may not have come across so I could highlight their work. I have some knit patterns, some crochet patterns, and even a couple of Tunisian crochet patterns that looked too pretty to pass up.
Let’s start with the yarn trios and then I’ll include the list of patterns with links to Ravelry below.
Each skein of yarn shown in the photos is in stock individually in the Squoosh DK section of my shop as I write this. If I sell out of something, though, feel free to order it through the Dyed to Order section of my shop.
This first trio is very water-themed, isn’t it?
This one is great for all the literature lovers!
This one is just rich and beautiful. This is the last skein of Chocolate in stock at the moment, by the way.
This next trio is perfect for fall and perfect for my fellow lovers of The Lord of the Rings. Galadriel’s Gift refers to the gift Galadriel gave Sam to replenish the shire, Lothlorien is the forest of the elves where she resides, and Enchanted Forest is more general, but I always think of all the forests from The Lord of the Rings when I make it.
This colorway combo has fall written all over it:
Who else loves Monet?
I just made Ochre for the first time since last year, and I am relishing in this colorway. You’ll see it a few different times.
Warm autumn colorways and speckles too. What could be better?
I never thought of putting these three together before today!
This combo would be great for a pattern that calls for a light, medium, and dark colorway.
This would be another great light/medium/dark combo or fade shawl.
The Faded Blue Jeans colorway here is one-of-a-kind.
This set is the same except it has Annunciation Blue in the middle, and that is definitely not one of a kind.
Some Pattern Possibilities
As I promised, I found some lovely pattern possibilities to go with these skeins of Squoosh DK for you. The only one I have personally used is The Odyssey Shawl, but I chose them because they look beautiful, and each one is a good match for my three-skein combos.
Many of these patterns are by designers you may not have come across. I wanted to highlight their work and give you a chance to try something new.

I will leave you with one more 3-skein DK-weight colorway combo, but this one is on my Stained Glass DK:
My Own WIP
Speaking of Stained Glass, I have been dyeing up the new Stained Glass Sock in lots of different colorways. In fact, I am working on a weaving project on my big rigid heddle loom using Ice on Stained Glass Sock as the warp, Monet’s Cathedral on Stained Glass Fingering for the weft, and a row of the Ocean at Night art yarn I made during Spin Together every few inches. I haven’t gotten very far yet, but here it is so far:
I’m planning to make a shrug.
I always love to see what you’re making too, so please share!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Stay well, and happy fiber artistry!
