Happy weekend!
As I write this, we are less than 24 hours from the end of Spin Together. After that the other organizers and I will be determining the yardage winners and creative contest winner and then contacting all the prize sponsors to let them know who gets their lovely prizes.
It seems like everyone has had a really good time–finding some extra time to spin as well as finding camaraderie with other spinners on their teams and in the group.
Art Batt Advent Calendars
On the topic of spinning, I am doing something new this year. I am offering Art Batt Advent Calendars. They are similar to Yarn Advent Calendars (which I will be starting to dye up soon) but with spinning fiber–and not just any fiber to spin but soft art batts made of all the luxurious fibers I use.
Each set will come with 24 little boxes, and each box will contain a different half-ounce mini art batt all rolled up like a little fiber sushi roll and numbered by the day.
To give you an idea, my art batts are usually 2 ounces, so these will be one-quarter their size.
The idea is to open one box each day beginning on December 1st and ending on December 24th and spin it up. There might be a little something included as a gift for the 25th as well. Think of it is a bit of fun and stress relief in the weeks leading up to the holidays. Of course they also make great gifts for your favorite spinner.
At the end, you’ll have 12 ounces of handspun yarn that you can use as a singles or chain ply so you can keep the colors in order.
The colorways will NOT be Christmas themed. There will be some of every color, but blue and purple will be predominant. Each colorway will blend nicely with the ones before and after it, and these will be a combination of new art batt colorways and colorways I have already created.
You can expect each day’s art batt to include some of the following:
- merino
- Polwarth
- muga silk
- mulberry silk
- baby alpaca
- baby camel down
- bamboo
- mint fiber
- kid mohair locks
- kid Teeswater locks
- angelina
- firestar
I would not recommend this set for a brand new spinner, but if you are comfortable spinning merino, you should enjoy these.
There’s a bit of a time limit on these. The last day to order is November 1st, and I will be making them and sending them out by November 20th.
Extra Club Skein
I ended up with one extra skein of this month’s club colorway on Sock Perfection. Okay, I admit it–I also have an extra on Sparkly Merino Sock, but I’m keeping that one.
If you are a club member and decide you need an extra skein of Sock Perfection, let me know. You have to be a current club member to get it. I can’t wait for you all to see them this month! They are all on their way now.
Stay well, and happy fiber artistry!
