April Club Colorway, Hope, and Some Lovely Hand-Dyed Top

Good evening! I have had the craziest of weeks, so I am running a little later than usual for my newsletter.

I just have a few things to tell you about this week.

First of all, I have been wanting to do another Mary Cassatt painting for this spring, and I chose something fun that I think you’ll like. It’s a painting she made called “Lydia Crocheting in the Garden at Marly.” Here it is:

I thought the fact that the painting is of one of us fiber artist types would be delightful. I think I already have a plan for how I’ll be dyeing this up for yarn. Getting the colors of the long row of plants just behind Lydia for the art batts might be a little challenging, but we’ll find a way.

Hope

This week I have been so busy putting together the Eight Days of Easter kits that I have only done a little bit of dyeing compared with a typical week. I did, however, dye up Hope by George Watts on many different yarn bases. Here it is on Squiggle Sock:

I also have it available on lots of other bases and as art batts and hand-dyed top too. You can see them all right here.

Eight Days of Easter Kits

Speaking of those Eight Days of Easter Kits, I have been packaging them up! The last of them will be heading to their new homes early next week. I can’t show you what’s in the eggs because I don’t want to spoil the surprise. I also can’t show you the full-sized skein that’s part of the kit for the same reason, but I can at least show you the basket. Hopefully the Easter Bunny (or is that Yarn Bunny?) won’t mind too much.

Hand-Dyed Top

The other thing I did this week was dye up some top. Here is Afremov’s Farewell to Anger on a really nice superwash merino/nylon blend that would be great for handspun socks:

I also dyed up some amazingly soft baby camel down/tussah silk top in Monet’s Cathedral and Sapphire Dreams. One of these might “accidentally” find its way to my spinning wheel.

Sunflower

I am still dyeing up Sunflower and Freedom Blue and donating 25% of the sale of Sunflower to the Ukraine Solidarity Fund through the end of March. Thanks to all of you, we have been able to send $509 their way so far. I have a couple colorways in stock, and I’m still offering both colorways as a preorder through the end of the month.

I think that’s everything for this week. I have something extra special I want to dye up for you before next Friday, but I will wait until then to tell you about it.

Until then, I hope you have a wonderful week and find some time to enjoy the fiber arts. Stay well!
