Good morning and happy Friday to you. I am so excited to tell you that I have my Advent calendars listed in the shop!
This year, I’m offering a Yarn Advent Calendar and a Fiber Advent Calendar too. Let me tell you a little bit about each.
Yarn Advent Calendar
The Yarn Advent Calendar will contain twenty-four 20 gram minis, which is twice the size of last year’s minis. The theme is Jane Austen, and I’m going to be dyeing up colorways for 24 different heroes and heroines from her wonderful novels. My plan is to pair them together, so Lizzie Bennet will be next to Mr. Darcy, and Emma will be next to Mr. Knightley, etc.
I don’t want to give away the colors, but I will mention that these will be colors to wear all year long and not specifically Christmas colors. The colorways will be a combination of variegated, semi-solids, and speckles.
The calendar runs from December 1st through Christmas Eve, and then I have a little gift for you for Christmas Day.
I’m also including the Candy Cane Lane Advent Shawl knitting pattern by Tara of Crystal Tea Knit Designs. It’s a beautiful triangular shawl with lots of stitch variation to keep things interesting. The pattern is divided by day for your Advent calendar. It’s at the advanced beginner level though, so there’s nothing too difficult.
They will be in my shop until November 1st or whenever they sell out. You can learn more and get your Yarn Advent Calendar right here.
Fiber Advent Calendar
I am also offering Fiber Advent Calendars this year for spinners and felters too. Instead of the art batts I did last year, I’m doing hand-dyed top this year. I’ll be using a multitude of different soft luxury fibers like merino, Polwarth, BFL, and silk blends so you’ll have all the fun of different colorways and different (but compatible) textures.
Each day’s fiber will be packaged in an individually numbered box going from 1 to 24, and then on Christmas Day you’ll get a small gift from me. Most boxes will contain hand-dyed top, but a few will have other fun add-ins like kid mohair locks and sparkle that you can spin into the other fiber whenever you like.
The colorways will blend nicely from one to the next, so you can just start with day 1 and keep spinning onto the same bobbin or spindle until it’s full. All in all, you’ll get 12 oz of fiber, so it’s plenty for a nice big project.
Just like the Yarn Advent Calendars, these will be in my shop until November 1st or until they sell out. You can learn more and get a Fiber Advent Calendar right here.
Bohemian Rhapsody and Stained Glass DK
The other thing I wanted to tell you about today is that I dyed up more Bohemian Rhapsody this week. I originally dyed it last month on Sock Perfection and Sparkly Merino Sock, and it sold out quickly. I dyed more on both of those bases and on So Silky Sock and (drum roll, please) my new Stained Glass DK.
Like Stained Glass Fingering, Stained Glass DK is made of 100% superwash merino, and it is so squishy and soft and wonderful! I’ll be dyeing up more colorways on Stained Glass DK in the coming weeks, but right now I just have Bohemian Rhapsody and Burgundy Rose.
I also dyed up Burgundy Rose on So Silky Sock, Sock Perfection, and Sparkly Merino Sock. It’s such a great semi-solid because it goes with so many of my variegated colorways.
I think that’s everything for this week. If you have any questions about the Advent Calendars, please don’t hesitate to email me. Have a great weekend!
