Good morning! As we move firmly into summer weather, I hope you are finding time to enjoy the fiber arts.
Today I wanted to tell you about a sale I’m having this weekend. I also wanted to tell you about last weekend’s wool festival, and I have an exciting announcement having to do with socks as well.
Let’s start with the sale, shall we? I’m offering 20% off all my hand-dyed top. You can use the coupon code TOP20 on my website, or you can click on this link to have the coupon code applied automatically when you check out: https://www.shop.purplelambfiberarts.com/discount/TOP20. The sale is good through now through Monday.
I have organic Polwarth top, soft merino top, and a merino/silk blend available. They are all great for spinning and felting. These are NOT repeatable colorways, so if you see one you like, don’t wait! Here are a few of my favorites:
I also wanted to tell you about the Flagstaff Wool Festival I took part in last weekend. I could not have asked for better weather. It was gorgeous. The animals were a delight to see, and it was nice to see the festival growing. This was the third year I’ve been part of it.
Here’s our booth. I could not have done it without the help of my husband and our older children.
In addition to my hand-dyed yarn and fiber, I brought my handspun yarn and fiber paintings.
The fiber paintings definitely sparked lots of conversations.
I also brought my little Ashford Sample-It loom to give people a chance to try rigid-heddle weaving. Both adults and children enjoyed the opportunity, and it was a lot of fun showing people the basics.
Another thing I did for the first time this year was knit up a lot of samples of of my different colorways so the people at the festival and all of you online can get an idea of how a colorway is going to work up. My oldest daughter and I both worked on these together. This is definitely a work in progress, but here’s what we’ve got so far:
You may have noticed that I have been adding these to my yarn listings as I make them.
Here’s another photo of some of my yarn, art batts, and hand-dyed top.
In the greater world outside the booth, there were some darling fiber animals. I’ve always loved alpacas. I think they look like teddy bears with long necks, don’t you?
How cute is this? This friendly alpaca was all ready to play.
And there were some adorable young lambs at the festival. Here’s my younger daughter holding one of them:
I wish I could say everything went off without a hitch, but Sunday afternoon, my credit card software would not work. It turned out a large portion of Google Cloud was down. I want to thank those of you who were so patient while I was dealing with all of that and stuck with me. Next time I’m bringing a backup system!
Since coming home, I’ve been busy dyeing and carding this month’s club colorways. The June colorway was inspired by Raphael’s “School of Athens.” Here’s a sneak peak of the three different yarn bases plus the art batt. These are only available through my clubs. I’m dyeing up the matching semi-solids now, and I’ll be sending these babies out to their new homes as soon as they are fully dry.
I apologize for the length this week, but I have one more exciting bit of news to share with you. You may recall the interview I did some months back with Dana Gervais, the fabulous designer of sock patterns. She has been working on a new book called Footnotes, and it’s available now as a preorder and scheduled to come out on June 13th. You can find it on Ravelry here and on Amazon here.
One of her patterns, Sillage, features my Margarita colorway on Sock Perfection.
I think I can state unequivocally that between the pattern and the yarn, knitting Sillage will be anything but dull!
Until next week, happy fiber artistry!
