A Portfolio of Colorways

This week I did something new. I created a new page on my website that shows a knit sample of most of my current colorways. A few are finished objects made by yours truly or someone else, but most are hats I knit as samples on my Addi. If you have ever looked at a colorway and wondered how it will look knit up, this is for you!

At the same time, though, I have to share a caveat. The samples give you an idea of how a colorway can work up, and that idea is very useful. However, it’s important to know that the pattern you use, the particular batch of yarn, and even your personal tension will all affect how the colorway looks in your project.

With that caveat firmly in place, here is the link to the new Portfolio of Colorways. If you want to find it later, you’ll find it under the “About Purple Lamb” section of the menu. I hope you find it helpful!

Monet Colorways

My son Joseph and I dyed up a fresh batch of Monet’s Cathedral as well as some more of the new assigned pooling version of the Monet’s Water Lilies colorway.

Here is Monet’s Cathedral on Squoosh Worsted:

This colorway looks great with Annunciation Blue, Lilac, and (my personal favorite) with Eggplant. Here those three are together on Sparkly Merino Sock:

Here is Monet’s Water Lilies on Stained Glass Sock:

I had a brilliant customer put Monet’s Water Lilies with Peacock Eyes a couple days ago, and they look wonderful together! It would also look great with Lilac of course. Here they are altogether:

Easter Kits in Progress

I have been dyeing the mini skeins for the Eight Days of Easter kits this week. I’ll be dyeing the last two colorways tomorrow, and then once they are all dry, it will be time to get started putting everything together. It was a lot of fun creating some new colorways to match the tulips in the photo. I’ll show you the whole set in April.

A New Ponchette Pattern to Come

As I have probably mentioned before, ponchettes are my favorite accessory because they stay put while adding a nice layer of warmth and elegance. I had an idea for a new ponchette pattern with an Old Shale section in the front and a Picot bind-off, and I just finished the sample I made for it. I used a gradient set of eight mini skeins I had on hand from my 2019 Advent calendar.

I will readily admit that the Picot bind-off took absolutely forever, but that’s okay.

I hope you have a wonderful week and find lots of time to enjoy the fiber arts!
