Good morning, and happy Friday to you!
It has been an absolutely crazy week here. I am in the process of getting ready for the DFW Fiber Fest for the first time. That is just two weeks away–September 22nd through the 25th at the Irving Convention Center. I’m really looking forward to meeting some of you who are local to DFW!
Meanwhile, our air conditioner went out a week ago, and I have been spending a lot of time dealing with the question of whether to repair or replace and getting quotes. You know how it goes.
Fortunately, a kind friend loaned us a window AC unit, so we aren’t completely without AC, but I am feeling very sympathetic toward everyone who lived before AC in this climate. Heck, our house predates AC for that matter.
Anyway, let’s talk about yarn instead, shall we?
Sunflower of Hope Shawl
Lena of Softyarn Designs just released her new Sunflower of Hope Shawl. She used two skeins of my Sunflower colorway to create it. She’s donating 50% the first month and 25% thereafter to the World Central Kitchen to help people get food in Ukraine! In addition to the Sunflower colorway, think any semi-solid or Splashed and Speckled yarn would look great with her stunningly beautiful pattern. Here it is:
Lena has been a joy to work with throughout the process, and all of her patterns are gorgeous!
Fresh from the Dye Pots
Since we last spoke, I have dyed up my club colorways for September as well as Sage, Sapphire Dreams, Beautiful Universe, and Renaissance Festival on lots of different yarn bases Here they all are together on Squiggle Sock:
Renaissance Festival is one of my fall colorways, and I’m so happy to bring it back again!
Call for Show and Tell Projects
Next week I am planning on doing a Show and Tell newsletter where I get to share all of your beautiful creations. If you have a WIP (work in progress) or a FO (finished object) that you would like to share in my newsletter, please email me a photo or two as well as any pattern info. It’s always such a pleasure to see and share what my little yarn and fiber babies grow up to become!
In addition to the beautiful knit and crocheted items, I would love to include some of your handspun yarn made from art batts so everyone can see how unique and wonderful handspun is.
Spin Together
Last but not least, Spin Together is coming up. It’s a week-long spinning competition that a small group of us started 4 years ago now. There are yardage contests as well as creative spinning contests. You can learn more on our website and join a team between now and September 25th. I am not running a team this year because I’m just too busy helping out behind the scenes, but there are lots of great teams to choose from.
Until next week, happy fiber artistry!
